Can't believe we are already almost at the end of 2018! Geez! The words I heard my elders say as a child really resonates these days and that is, time flies! Lately I've been learning and reflecting on the importance of time. Today is a day we won't ever get back. This moment is a moment we won't ever get back. That's why being present and doing what you have been called to do is essential!
Over the past few months I've felt the inner call from God, through the Holy Spirit, to embrace my natural self. And what did that mean? It meant to simply allow my true self to show in each situation, including all tree of my hair textures (tree=three depending where you are from lol). The first couple of months were rough and well, I looked rough! So I was randomly speaking or praying like "God, you gotta help me out with this hair cause I look a hot mess and I'm on a budget." I often felt the Holy Spirit gently whisper to try a product I bought early in the year which was located under my sink with all the other products I've bought :/, but instead of listening I made myself busy and searched for products. But one day I FINALLY listened and decided to try that product along with another one I found that I had purchased a while back. And lo and behold, they were the miracle workers!!!! All tree (three) of my textures were mostly on point!
Just this morning I was going back and forth in my mind about buying some new hair ties because some of my old ones are pretty busted up! Once again, I'm like "Jesus, I need some hair ties, but you know a sister is on a budget." Again, I felt the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit to organize under my sink and what did I find????????? About five hair ties that were pretty new! I just had to clean them up!
So I got to thinking and maybe it was the Holy Spirit speaking; how often do we run ourselves nuts searching for things or answers that have been around us the whole time. God is answering but sometimes we just aren't listening. Often, I have searched for success when God hid the key already inside of me. Often I have searched for my gifts and talents when they were already inside of me. It was through seeking HIM that I discovered them because it is about HIM. I don't know about you, but I know I've often sought answers from this sermon and that sermon on YouTube, when all I had to do was be still just long enough to hear His voice within me. It's crazy how often we fill ourselves with unnecessary noise or distraction when the answers we search for at times, are simply around us. The key is to keep it simple in this world that we make complicated. How will I hear God's answers, if I am always surrounded by noise? Are you willing to stop searching and start listening? For the answers that we search have been waiting on us.
This life is so short and goes by so quickly. So I dare you to take some time and be still. I dare you to trust God and believe. I dare you to simply be in relationship with Him. I dare you to not go and search for the answers, but be still and listen for them. For in due time, His time, He will provide them.
