What an amazing and surprising summer it has been thus far!
There is a lesson in just about everything sometimes. I recently vacationed with family which was an awesome surprise. Sometimes when you walk by faith, you never know what little surprises God has in store. Enduring is just the hard part sometimes of our faith journeys.
Kids really do teach us a lot if we are open to being taught! But even if we are not open, they still find a way to teach us! For me, that kid was a family remember who I will not play by putting their name out there! But I will share some of their business! lol This little one in particular was doing different tasks as punishment for their somewhat accident. Well, it was an accident, but at the moment I wasn’t trying to hear that. Anyhoo, they seemed to have a little to much joy doing these chores! So what did I do? I added a few more chores, some of which were deserving! Well, at least in my eyes they were. But what did the Holy Spirit do in the mist of this all???? Remind me that I too have made mistakes or had accidents.
Sometimes we tend to forget all of our mistakes, when others make mistakes. We make it hard for them as WE see fit. Now don’t get me wrong, there are some instances where we must give forgiveness and protect our hearts as guided by the Holy Spirit. But often enough, we like others to pay beyond their mistakes. We try to make it extra hard for them to receive forgiveness. In these moments, we sometimes forget how God has so forgiven us beyond the mistakes others have done to us. Forgiveness is simply forgiveness. Forgiveness is not making others pay until we have judged them as finally being ready to get forgiveness. We simply forgive, because this is what we are taught to do (Colossians 3:13 “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”) It’s through forgiveness that we too receive. By forgiving, we in turn open our hearts to allow God’s love to flow even more through us. Besides, life is too short to be walking around all angry and bitter from a lack of forgiveness! I’m just saying.
SN: In my case I decided give forgiveness by ending the last task before completion. Lord help me! lol I’m so not perfect, but that is how we are supposed to be. Imperfect, yet constantly seeking the perfect, Jesus Christ ;)
