I really absolutely love this season. I’ve watched Home Alone and A Miracle on 34th Street literally like five times within these last few weeks! Now can you tell how much I enjoy this time of the year?! For me, it is not about gifts. SN: I’m starting to recite the lines I often heard my mother say, “I really don't want or need anything for Christmas.” Although our joy should be year round, I enjoy the extra smiles I see, the Christmas lights on the homes, and the stories of people bringing joy to others during this season. Most importantly, I enjoy celebrating the birth of Jesus! Come on somebody! (SN: Christmas onesies give me joy!)
This week I and actually the past few weeks, I’ve been coming across the word ‘obedience.’ I think this week I truly came to the understanding of the word.
I was so excited to have the second half of my week off this week. So after seeing my last client on Wednesday morning, I figured I would finish the last of my Christmas shopping for a few family members. This year I decided that I wanted be intentional about the gifts I chose instead of my usual rush to the store and just get something. I mean if we are going to do something for someone, we should do it with some joy and happiness to bless someone right! (I’m learning still!). Let me stay on topic! On my last day of work however, I woke up with a friend on my mind. So after I saw my client, I decided go visit my friend and therefore be obedient to God placing this person on mind. I’m so glad I did so!
As I drove to my friend’s place, I discovered many of the stores I wanted to go to for my last few gifts were on the way! As I pulled up to my destination, I discovered that all the stores I had in mind were actually less than five minutes away!!!!! Thank you Jesus!!!! When I arrived, I noticed my friend needed help in assembling a stroller. Lord knows I’m not the best with those things but we made it!!! Actually, I wanted to give up a few times and call the manufacturer but my friend was my encourager to keep pressing and with persistence we got it together!!! Afterwards, we were able to go on a stroll around the neighborhood, chat, and encourage each other. (Praise Jesus, the stroller did not fall apart! lol).
By being obedient to God in just this small matter, God was able to work in other matters! If I would have followed by original plan, I would have been all over Houston, TX locating stores! However, by following God’s plan, I was able to accomplish so much more in less time! Did I mention I found awesome sales too at the stores I visited in addition to awesome meaningful gifts I found within minutes of entering each store!!! Won’t He do it!!!!! I’m coming to the understanding that often the initial gentle voice within to do something is God! I used to fight back all within my self, (and still do), like “Oh no I’m not doing this or that!” But imagine what is on the other side of not being obedient such as possible frustration and so much more. I’m not saying that being obedient will always be easy, but what I am saying that God will work it out for our good!
Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things, God words for the good of those who Love Him.” Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” 2 John 1:6 “And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.”
“Seek the Kingdom and all things shall be added unto you.”
Seek the kingdom and God will show you what He has for you.
