As I played for a good thirty minutes with my hair in distaste for each style I tried, I began to think about acceptance. We all want to be authentically accepted for who we are. But maybe acceptance starts with accepting who we are. Just maybe it’s not in the things I see, but what’s in me.
Maybe happiness starts with truly being happy with me.
Maybe joy starts with truly having joy within me.
Maybe love starts with truly loving me.
Maybe peace starts with truly having peace within me.
Maybe believing starts with truly believing in me. The me God created me to be.
And then I looked at myself, smiled and said “you look fine, now let’s go.”
